Panic

They offered me the job.  Specific details--such as salary and exact hours--are to be negotiated with the Department of Ed (which could put the kibosh on the whole thing).

The school wants me to work 8:30-3:30 two days a week and 10-2 two days a week--more hours than I had originally anticipated.  They want me to start as soon as I can lock-in childcare and mentioned next week if at all possible.

The thought of taking it makes me ill.  On the other hand, the thought of not taking it makes me ill.

Egads...I really don't have any good advice....just thinking about you and hope you find the answer.

Well whatever you decide, it's nice to be wanted! Congratulations!

Congrats on the job offer! That has to feel good:)

Good luck deciding what to do. (I could let my big sister tell you what to do, that's how I make all my hard decisions;)).

do it! teaching is fun!

that's my biased advice. :)

I always wondered how to spell kibosh. Good luck deciding.

Do it!

So here's the thing. I don't see why you wouldn't take it. First, the commitment would only run through the school year, right, which means that in June you could re-evaluate the situation. And, if things really go south before then, you could quit. As my mom once told me when I was worrying over a job offer -- it's not indentured servitude, you can always quit. So, take it, try it. If you're like me, you'll be a better mom for working part-time.

It's always good to get the offer, right? Because you're the one that's now in control. It sounds like it might be a good opportunity and you can always re-evaluate if it isn't working out. Of course, if they don't come through with your salary then I'd walk away. Best of luck in your decision.

What a tough decision. I have thought about going back to work, but I know how teaching goes--even part time teaching usually ends up being full time work. Good luck in deciding what's right for you.
