Music Appreciation

I don't listen to much music on the radio.  You won't be surprised to hear that I have a fairly serious NPR addiction (thus far I've resisted the urge to call in to share my opinions with the talk shows, but I probably won't be able to hold out forever), and that's usually what's on when I'm home.

Sometime this fall, however, I did hear a snippet of a song on the radio, and I thought it was catchy.  It was that Beyonce song, and the only bits that registered with me were the "To the left, to the left" chorus and "You must not know 'bout me."

Somehow I filed this away in my brain as a fundraising song for the Democrats, who are "to the left, to the left" and who were taunting Bush for not knowing 'bout the Democrats who were looking to kick some Republican butt in the November election.

I didn't have cause to think of the song again until I heard it blasting out of someone's car window over this ridiculously warm weekend.  Imagine my surprise: it's not a fundraising song after all.

OMG Beyonce is a Commie!!!
You go girl!

I actually called into an NPR show for the first time today and was actually put on the air. I'm still kind of shaking from the sheer exhilaration.
