Ugh. Also Gah.

The 18 month sleep regression has begun.

The Girl has not been a perfect sleeper, but she's a vast improvement over The Seemingly Nocturnal Boy--especially since she got her own room.  But earlier this week I noticed that bedtime (usually some stories, a bottle, and some singing lasting 15-20 minutes) was creeping up toward 45 minutes.

18 month sleep regression flashed in my mind's eye, but I tried to ignore it.  Not now, I pleaded.  She's only 17.5 months!  She's only been sleeping well for 2.5 of those months!  And The Boy has a cold and won't be going to school!

Today's utterly failed nap time seemed like a further indication that things were quickly coming unglued.  And tonight's 1.5 hour bedtime battle confirmed that, indeed, we are regressing all over the place.

I went through this with The Boy so I know that it will pass.  Good Lord, let that be soon.

Got that here too. Oh, wait a minute, this can't be sleep regression, as that implies that he ever slept through the night regularly. 22.5 months and counting... uuugh. Luckily he is extraordinarily cute and smart or we'd throw him back. Hang in there BG, you ain't alone.

The lowercase is 3 now and we're battling hardcore at bed time. So far tonight we've been trying since 8pm. It is now nearly 10. He is STILL awake. He's had to go to time out once in the middle of it because he just will. not. be. quiet! and he can't lay still to save himself! Lord help us all! Hoping the Girl's sleep regression is short-lived!

Lately I've been reading about sleep regressions and vomiting and diaper explosions and OMG do I want to go back there after more than a decade? I'm not sure but I do know that in two months it is going to be me. ARGH!

Oh, I am so sorry. The 18 month sleep regression was a dark and painful period in my life. I wish you much strength.

yeesh. Why does she need to be precocious in this way!

Yeah, this is one of those things that even when you know it is coming and that it ends someday...doesn't make it any better!

Hope you are fully stocked with chocolate and the caffeinated beverage of your choice.

We are (still) there with you. She had just been doing SO much better with sleep, and then, blame! 18 months! Okay, 17.5 months! Now we are at 20 months, and we are both getting REALLY tired of it. The going to bed has gotten easier, but she is now waking up at 11:30 and needing us to cosleep the rest of the night while she tosses, turns, kicks, flails, rolls, etc. (If one of us doesn't cosleep, she is up multiple times crying.)

I hope it does not last long for you. How long did The Boy's 18-month regression last?
