There is a plan:
I'm to report to the hospital tonight at 6 pm for cervidil, with pitocin to follow tomorrow morning. The OB anticipates delivery sometime Thursday afternoon/evening.
I got the "this is a big baby so you might need a c-section" speech, and while I'm not itching to have a c-section, I'm not all that worked up about the possibility.
I'll be back when there's news, but it's not likely to be until we're all home. Wow. How strange it is to type that.
In the meantime, if you haven't read Malcolm Gladwell's article about the state of health insurance coverage in the U.S. in this week's New Yorker, it's an interesting read. Especially today.
I'm very excited for you, and hope everything goes as smoothly as possible. I will be praying for you and thinking of you until you post again.

Hi,
You and I shared the August 25th due date (and some pregnancy fears) but I went into labor on 8/17 and my boy was born on 8/18 (8lbs 15ozs!!! No c-section!)....and now we're home and yes, it is so surreal but you just hit the ground running. It already feels like forever in some ways even though it's been less than a week. Wishing you all the best. Everything will be just fine.
Posted by: Frances | August 24, 2005 at 02:52 PM
Good luck! I will be thinking of you. Can't wait to hear how everything went, and about the little one.
Posted by: Donna | August 24, 2005 at 02:52 PM
Very exciting! It won't be long now!! I try not to give assvice...but if you like mind-altering drugs and are offered Stadol you should say yes. If you don't like mind-altering drugs or don't think it is the right time for mind altering drugs...don't say yes to the Stadol. It is really whacky stuff and may effect the decisions you make even after it wears off.

yay!
This is because of my demand in the previous post, isn't it? especially the fact that through some glitch it got posted over and over again.

Yea! Best of luck to you.
You said-- "...while I'm not itching to have a c-section, I'm not all that worked up about the possibility"
I know what you mean... as I am faced with the possibility of a c-section 2 weeks prior to my due date... so, I look forward to hearing all the details!
In the mean time, I'll be praying for a swift and easy delivery, whether vaginal or c-section.
Hope to hear from you soon!!!

Hellooo? Helloooooooooooooooo?
Posted by: Kristine | August 29, 2005 at 08:18 PM
Hoping for wonderful news soon.
I read the NYTimes article and was surprised at how much of it is about tooth problems. A dear adopter, cubbiegirl, is going through the exact scenario described in the article. Her blog is at http://cubbiegirl.typepad.com/ if anyone wants to help a gal with no tooth insurance who's got a very big heart.
While we all sit and wait for BG's big, big news....
