Well, some details are still being worked out, but for all intents and purposes, we are bound for the burbs. I don't know where to start to prepare for this enormous life change, but if you happen to know of an affordable 3 bedroom/2 bath house for rent in Westchester or Fairfield Counties by all means let me know. Ideally we'd be able to walk to the train and/or a park, playground, or library.
Gulp.
I'm excited for you!

You can't take the Brooklyn out of the girl... you'll just be "BrooklynGirl in ___________", wherever you end up! Best of luck with the search.

Wow--a huge move. Congratulations on the decision!
Did you read Meg Wolitzer's oh, what was it called? The Ten Year Nap? There was a bit in there about moving to the burbs.

OMG we are so meeting up :-) In a non-stalkerish kind of way, of course. But I have done much scoping of parks in Westchester. (It's all good until you need a bathroom.)
Does it matter which train line? (Hudson/Harlem/New Haven?)

"SuburblynGirl"?
Do you need to change the name before you've completed your trial run? Like, until you've formally renounced your Park Slope citizenship?

I don't have a name suggestion, but I do have warm wishes for you! Have a safe move and good luck!
